INDUSTRY International Forum for Audiovisual Education SESSION 3

For everyone active in the audiovisual and cultural field interested in young audiences

The International Forum for Audiovisual Education is part of The Visegrad Young Film Days project and offers a comprehensive view of key institutions and initiatives in the field of European cinema and audiovisual education for young audiences. The program will spotlight Cinekid, the largest festival for children’s film and media, and examine Quai10, a unique venue in Charleroi, Belgium, where film and video games intersect, as well as the operations of The Film Education Network in the Netherlands. It will highlight innovative approaches to pre-school film education at the Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum and the Danish Film Institute, delve into the success of Swedish cinema for children and young people, including data collection on young audiences at the Swedish Film Institute, and feature the agenda of KIDS Regio, a lobbying initiative for high-quality, diverse European children's films. 

The program will also showcase a diverse range of film educational projects and activities led by institutions from the Visegrad countries. Featured contributors include the National Film Institute - Film Archive (Hungary), the Andrzej Wajda Centre for Film Culture (Poland), Kino Úsmev (Slovakia), the Center for Documentary Film (Czech Republic) and Aeroškola (Czech Republic), each presenting their unique approaches to fostering film education and engagement with young audiences.

The programme is primarily intended for professionals in the field of audiovisual and audiovisual education. Registration for the programme does not mean automatic participation in the programme. Only if your registration is approved, it is possible to participate in the programme. The deadline for registration is 18 September 2024.

FIRESIDE CHAT: Building Strong Partnerships with teachers

Informal discussion with a focus on collaboration with teachers and the ways and possibilities of reaching them with film education formats.  


Emese Erdös

She’s been working at the National Film Institute since 2017, for two and a half years as the Fast Forward Program’s coordinator, she organized workshops and masterclasses for young filmmakers. She’s been working at the Film Archive as an education officer since March 2020. She develops educational content and coordinates the Klassz Program – educational and youth program. Previously, she was a cultural program organizer at Budapest Film, an art house cinema exhibitor company, and the curator of the exhibition ‘90 years old Puskin Cinema’. Prior to that, she worked as a drama teacher and the artistic director of the Mandragora Theater.

Karolina Śmigiel

Karolina Śmigiel is a culture expert, philosopher, cultural manager and educator. She is an artistic director of the Documentary Films Festival for Young Audiences LET'S DOC organized by Andrzej Wajda Center for Film Culture. In 2020, together with the Center, she launched a development program for documentary directors "Let's Doc", which aims to develop documentary production for young audience in Poland. Furthermore, she has been involved in film and media education for the last 15 years (New Horizons Association, Cinema in Sneakers FF, Association of Creative Initiatives "ę".) Karolina leads workshops on film and media education. She co-creates a philosophical event: Festival of Abstract Thinking. She is also film producer and lectures at Warsaw Film School (Film Production Department). She was participant of Emerging Producers 2022 (by IDF Ji.hlava), IDFAcademy 2022 and EURODOC 2023.

Tomáš Machek

Graduate of the Theatre and Education Department of the Academy of Performing Arts JAMU Brno, actor of the Líšeň Theatre, founder of the o.s.Umění mění and ToTeM Theatre, teacher, puppeteer, scenographer, lecturer of site specific, animation, self-discovery workshops, drama, ecological and film education. Gallery pedagog at Sladovna Písek, one of the authors of the concept and final realization of Animárium animation studio.

Martin Peroutka

Martin Peroutka is the director of AeroSchool z.s. and the main coordinator of the Little Eyes Film Festival since 2021. He studied at the Václav Hollar School of Art, and subsequently studied religious studies at Charles University and the University of Pardubice. He has worked as a graphic designer, animator, lecturer of art education, independent assistant teacher at the Jedlička Institute and coordinator of volunteer activities in the Vršovice Parish.
