History of Young Film Fest

About Young Film Fest

Young Film Fest is an international film festival that focuses on world cinematography for children and young people. During the festival days it presents the most interesting contemporary European films for young people, educates and connects contemporary art with film and vice versa.

The development of Young Film Fest from 2017 to the present

In 2017, Young Film Fest joined more than 30 European countries where young audiences aged 12-14 decide the best European film of the year nominated by the European Film Academy.

Since its inception, the Young Film Fest has grown to its current form as a multi-day film festival, which now also presents short films, offers an Industry programme for film professionals and announces its own Young Film Fest Award. The festival's program crosses traditional boundaries between disciplines and looks for common ground even where no one would look for it. The festival is open to young audiences aged 3 to 19, as well as the general public, film professionals and film school students.
