Industry programme

 

For teachers, film professionals and all those interested in audiovisual education

 

Friday 22nd September 2023 | 9:00 - 17:30 | Kino Kavalírka (Plzeňská 210, Prague 5)

 

The industry programme of the Young Film Fest, The Visegrad Young Film Days, will be focusing this year on audiovisual education topics for the neglected group of children aged 3-6 years and for teenagers over 12 years old. For filmmakers and students of film school there will be a programme of contemporary television and film production for youth (Czech Republic, Sweden and the Netherlands). For teachers there will be a presentation of Czech and Slovak makers of educational games. For anyone interested in audiovisual education (teachers, lecturers, representatives of cultural and school institutions, filmmakers), we will introduce examples of good practice on the comprehensive development of audiovisual education in the Netherlands (system support, development of film education centres, methodological materials, as well as a film education project Cinemini for children aged 3 - 6.

 

We are happy to announce that among the first confirmed guests are film producer Stefan Lindén (SE) from the legendary SF Studios, director and creative director of the production company Bye Jane! - Wouter Keijzer (NL), Sebastian Rosenow (DE) from Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum, Margreet Cornelius (NL) from The Eye Film Museum, Daniel Lundquist (SE) from International Film Festival for Children and Youth BUFF in Malmö, Rianne van Laar (NL) from Filmhub Zuid, game studios Impact Games (SK) and Charles Games (CZ), the association Queer Geography (CZ) with its international project GaminGEE and students of New Media studies at the Faculty of Arts at the Charles University with the educational game Dreamlike.

The industry programme is part of The Visegrad Young Film Days (VYFD) project, which focuses on audiovisual education for children and young people. It focuses in particular on age groups that are often neglected in this field or for whom it is difficult to create educational programmes.

For teachers:
How to deal with video games in schools?

Time: 9:00 - 12:00

For: teachers and anyone interested in the topic of using video games in schools

 

We don't have to play heroes in games. With this philosophy in mind, educational video game projects are created that put their players at the centre of historical events, contemporary world problems or in the roles of ordinary people facing difficult life situations. Educational game formats are supported by engaging narratives, allowing players to have an immersive experience that enhances the educational and awareness-raising goals of these games.

In the programme, we will present the game studios Charles Games (CZ) and Impact Games (SK), the international project GaminGEE by Queer Geography (CZ) and, last but not least, the educational game Dreamlike by a student of New Media at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University.

In this programme session, the above-mentioned game studios, projects and their games with an educational and awareness-raising focus will be presented in short presentations in English.

How to make the best film education?

The world's unique Cinemini project aimed at preschoolers aged 3 to 6 years and an innovative model of film education in the Netherlands. Representatives of key European institutions in the field of audiovisual education will present approaches and projects that define their view of audiovisual education.

The programme will feature presentations by Margreet Cornelius (NL) from The Eye Film Museum, Rianne van Laar (NL) from Filmhub Zuid, Sebastian Rosenow (DE) from Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum and Kristoffer Magnus Nohr Unstad (NO) from The Cultural Schoolbag Nordland.

 

For producers:
Contemporary audiovisual production for youth

Time: 15:30 - 17:30

For: producers, filmmakers, professionals and all those interested in audiovisual education

 

The third part of the programme will focus on contemporary audiovisual production for youth and its interconnection with audiovisual education. Film producer Stefan Lindén (SE) from the legendary SF Studios, film and commercial maker Wouter Keijzer (NL). The presentations will be followed by a discussion on audiovisual production for youth in the European context.
